Rokka -Braves of the Six Flowers- Episode 1 Review

The Strongest Man in the World

This anime has a very rich and deep history and mythology, that is often over looked in animes or other shows in a fictitious land. It's mythology and history are thought out and very extensive. The whole world take a lot from Latin American history and mythology. Which was a welcome surprise to the norm of Asian and or European history or mythology. There aren't a lot of things that focus one or use Latin American culture in stories unless the story is from Latin America. That's awesome.
The problem with the show though is Adlet, the main character. He is the self proclaimed strongest man in the world. He is strong and has lots of equipment to help him fight. Does that make him the strongest man in the world? No, he knows how to fight with the equipment that he has but when it comes to strength. He relies more on his equipment then his actual skill. Also, he's just an idiot. He interrupts a ceremony and is just an ass hole about it. Thank fully he gets thrown in jail for it. But, he then becomes one of the six flowers. So, we are a little stuck with him.
The mythology of the six flowers and world that was created is wonderful. But, the characters don't really keep up. They are just anime characters that have been seen over and over again. This really is a reoccurring theme. Were the story and the situation are very interesting but the characters can't hold the story. The characters them selves never change and don't develop. An interesting story and situation really can't make a show good. You need development and change to the characters. Or every thing falls flat and gets boring. Hopefully the characters will change and grow since this is just the first episode but there is no guaranteed.
~^.^
