The opening does a good job at at bridging the two worlds. The characters each get a shot with them in there own world then the back drop changes to the other world. It blends to two worlds together. The song is a little sad. But, that goes with the tone of the story. This is a war anime. Even though it is in a different world it is still war. Things aren't going to be happy and silly all the time. There may be points in the show that are silly and goofy but the main story is not. The opening sets this tone for the whole show.
The ending, as what has been said before on this blog, it's just a background for the credits to roll on. There really isn't much else to it and this one is the same. The animation on the car does look nice. It changes colors for the four different seasons. It also shows all the characters, unlike some anime endings that just show case one character or only a few.
