Suihelibe!
I found Suihlibe at the same comic swap that I found Bakuman and Witchblade it was just at a different time. I wan't expecting much out of it mainly because of the cute are and pink cover.
One day when Tetsu is going to check out the biology club at school we walks in on a flying saucer that has crash landed into the room. A young girl, about his age of course, pops out and is trying to catch an alien rabbit thing. Tetsu helps her by just being there and she blurts out she's Lan, an alien from the planet Noid. She is here to catch animals from her planet and send them back home. Since no one is allowed to know she is an alien, she ask Tetsu to keep it a secret. She then flies off.
The club adviser then comes in and is in tears that some one is joining the biology club. He then sends Tetsu to the student council's office as the clubs representative.
The student council wants to get rid the biology club and tells Tetsu that if he can get three members by tomorrow the cub can stay. The next day, he has no knew members but Lan is now a new student in his class. She says she will join his club if he helps her catch noid animals. She then uses one of her noid tools to make the posters in the club room come to life to act as "members" so the club can stay running.
The student council doesn't believe that the members are real and are about to close the club when an alligator from the club escapes. The student council lets the club stay open on a probationary status if it can get five members with in three months. This is after Lan and Tetsu capture and stun the alligator. Tetsu is happy, but he now needs three more members.
The first person to join the club is Suzaka, the person with the highest GPA in the school. She runs into them while they are trying catch a noid animal in that park. This time a turtle type one. After they explain what is going on. She joins the club in name only first, stating she just goes with the flow. After being attacked by an other turtle noid she joins the club for real saying that it is her choice.
Suzaka and Tetsu visit Lan in her rocket ship. They find out that her planet is like a future earth and there are almost no me. She is on earth to find noid animals for her graduation exam. The more animals she fines the higher grade she gets.
The next member is Keiichi, he joins because he say Lan sending some plant noids back to noid. And brought one of them home to study. At first he just hangs around the biology club to get information on the plant he found. The biology club helps him clean up his room after the plant multiplies and takes over. He joins the club to learn more and as a thanks.
The next person is Mizumoto, a school idol. He wants to join because of Lan. An other club want him to join them, a boy band, so the two clubs fight it out in a game of cards. The card games go three rounds and it comes down to Tetsu who wins a game of old maid. The reason Mizumoto wants to join the club is that Lan fell out of her saucer, landed on him, and now he thinks she is an angel.
The best part of the manga was all the cute outfits that Lan wears. They are mainly in the title pages but they are still fun to look at. The story it's self was nothing elaborate or over the top. It was very safe and very childish. If the biology club need to do some thing Lan has a tool for noid to help. And, they get odder and odder through the series and very on the nose. They have to fallow some one so they have blankets that make them invisible. I can see maybe a kid in elementary school like this but no one really else. Unless you really like cute manga with very simple plots.
My final grade on it would have to be almost a waste of paper. It has a plot and it's not bad just very simple.
