Gangsta. Episode 1 Review

Naughty Boys

For the first episode of a new anime you always want some thing that grabs your attention. The opening did that. I will talk more about the opening here. This is just going to be about the episode. First thing first the art is wonderful. It's a more polished realistic art style. If the opening didn't let you know the art style did, this is an adult anime. It defiantly lives up to that in the episode. There is blood, violence, sex, and drugs all crammed into the 30 minutes of the episode.
Workic and Nicolas, the Handymen , will do any thing from deliveries to killing a small gang. As long as it pays they'll do it. Their dynamic is nothing new. One quite guy that never talks and one guy that never stops talking. One is serious, normally the quite one, and on is more carefree and happy, normal the talkative one. This is seen in many many animes, mangas, and american shows as well. What is different about Workic and Nicolas is that Nicolas is deaf. He can talk but it is very choppy and odd sounding because he is deaf and can't hear him self speak.
It was a little to obvious that Alex would be come their secretary of such. Or that they would save her in some way. It is nice though that it wasn't they went in guns blazing to save the girl. Nicolas and Workic did save her but they gave her a choice. She didn't have to go with them she could have easily gone and become a prostitute some were else under someone else. They just gave her some  thing else to do. Instead of telling her this is how it's going to be. Or, saying your here now. They always had a choice and she always made her own choices.
This is one that will defiantly be looked forward to each week.
