The Heroic Legend of Arslan Episode 10

The Lord and Master of Kashan Fortress

Narsus and Daryun return to the group and inform Arslan of what they found out in the capital. Narsus tells Arslan that he must decide what he wants to do as king and the rest of the will help it become a reality.
The next morning, the group is pursued by Lusitanian soldiers. Daryun has gone ahead to find them shelter. Farangis and Gieve shot arows at the on coming soldiers. Daryun returns and takes them to Kashan fortress, it is guarded by Pres soldiers and the lord is an ally. While entering the fortress Arslan notices that there are lots of slaves.
Arslan thanks Hodir, Lord of the Kashan Fortress, for letting them stay there. Holir tells he is very happy to have them and is loyal to Arslan. Gieve and Farangis talk to each other, they do not trust Holir stating that he talks to much. Hodir tells Arslan that he should marry his daughter. Arslan then tells him his plan to get more fallowers and then to free all the slaves in Pres.
They are then taken to their rooms. Arslan has a room away from the rest of the men. Daryun is against is, but Narsus tell him this is not the place. Holir visits Arslan a bit later asking to talk to him. Narsus and Daryun talk about how Holir just wants to become Arslan's father-in-law for the influence. Arslan scales the balconies to get to the other's room only to be attacked by Gieve, because they didn't know it was him.
Holir told Arslan to marry his daughter and not to free the slaves because it would destroy tradition. Arslan told him he would give his answer in the morning. Narsus knows that Hodir will act tonight. He send Gieve to help Arslan back to his room and to tell Farangis of their plan. He also tells Elam that he has a task for him.
Elam returns and says he found incense in the crawl space. The incense was to put them all asleep. Gieve also returns.
Hodir comes to Arslan with a small army trying to get Arslan to betray the others saying that they will do him harm. Arslan calls to the others and they leave. Holir runs after them saying that he is sorry. He asks that his men escort them out. The are hiding dagger but are knocked out by Farangis and Gieve. The soldiers attack and the archers prepare to shoot, but their bow strings break. Elam cut them earlier.
Holir decides to fight instead of letting them go. He extinguishes the fires and every one attacks. Hodir goes after Arslan, but Daryun kills him instead. They leave the fortress, on the way out Arslan stops. He frees the slaves telling them that Hodir is dead. The slaves are angry and they start to attack Arslan. He is confused not understating why.
Narsus explains to him about his own experiences. When he freed his slaves, they all returned. Living as a slave with a good master is an easy and good life. Even though he did what he thought was right. It is like the stars in the sky there are many different ones. Many different things that are right. Arslan says that at dawn they will be going East and be heading for Peshawar.

This episode started to show Arslan that his ideals aren't always going to work. He truly believes that if all the slaves were free there would be no fighting. He also believes that all the salves want to be free. Elam is a mirror of the slaves that attacked Arslan. He didn't leave Narsus's side even though he was free, because that is the life he knows. This happening does start to ware at Arlan's innocence and naiveness. He is starting to realize that the world is not black and white like he thought it was. But, that is a very child thin  to think. To children the world is one way and only that way. As you grow up hopefully you realize that the world is not that way. And, it's experiences that are different then your point of view that make you realize that. The more Arslan sees that the world is different then how he thought it is more he will understand it.
I also like how Farangis and Gieve's relationship is developing. They trust each other, but there isn't a romantic relationship, much to Gieve's dismay. I like how Farangis always pushes him away, but she doesn't seem to hate him for doing it. I can see it developing into a romantic relationship. The would trust and rely on each other. I hope that is the way that is goes.
I am sorry this review took a while. Some personal things happened. I will do my best to not let that happen again.
